I call the space where I stash all my tools and gear under the house a “workshop”. The term implies a degree of construction that isn’t quite there…..yet. It does have a roof (aka: the floor of the house) and some partial walling (aka: bits of ply screwed onto the houses foundation posts). It’s worth noting the half flooring too (old shipping pallets to lift my boots out of the mud).
Getting a “proper” workshop built isn’t really on the cards right now and so the idea is to make the best with whatever is lying around. One of my long term peeves was the fact that the end of one of the workbenches would get soaked every time it rained. The rain would just come down through the decking slats and start rusting out anything on that end. I had tried a few temporary fixes including stapling up building supply plastic wrap. All that achieved was to collect it all into a bulging dam, ready to burst, above your head. Happily though, I was able to get my hands on a broken plastic “shower surround” which had a 90 degree bend in it. Perfect to creating a waterproof roof.
The build had some other handy off-cuts and left-overs – odd bits of plywood and particle board. These have been ideal for closing in some of the gaps in the “walls”. The wind doesn’t gust through the place quite as much.
So a fun afternoon of matching up random bits of wood and screwing on plastic sheeting and the workshop is a little drier and a little more sheltered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
